Courage To Do The Damn Thing!

Courage To Do The Damn Thing!

*Content note: there is some discussion of domestic violence in this episode.*
Sometimes we think of courage as something we want to have before we do something. But, we have to start moving to generate the courage!
There are many versions of self-sabotage, such as procrastination, imposter syndrome, and "shoulds," to name a few. Luckily I have a 4-step process to work through those and get the damn thing done.
Clear your shit. Detox your mind and clean up your environment so you can see clearly.See yourself to be yourself.Build your net and it'll catch you.Done is better than perfect - do the thing scared!

Why We Should Let Shit Go

Why We Should Let Shit Go

If we hang on to shit, if we suppress and refuse to deal with it, it'll back up and cause problems. Literally - constipation is a problem, and repressed rage is a problem! Both can, and will, cause discomfort, illness, or worse.
Today I'll draw some parallels between some medical facts and myths, and the way we live our lives.
#1: Holding it won't hurt. MYTH - it can land you in the hospital! Holding on to resentment can, too.
#2: Workouts get you going. TRUE - the more you sit around, in a chair or an undesirable situation, the harder things will get.
#3: Coffee and castor oil will cure all. MYTH - neither is a great option, and just because something worked for someone else doesn't mean it'll work for you too.
#4: Laxatives work immediately. MYTH - it depends on what kind it is, and many times when we try something new it takes some time to see the results we want.

What is your level of expectation for your life? What is some shit that you need to let go of in your life?
If you want more of the shitty details, this is the article I reference: https://www.webmd.com/digestive-disorders/ss/slideshow-constipation-facts-10

Why You Need A Personal Audit

Why You Need A Personal Audit

I’m not here to be right. I’m here to be revelatory.
First things first - take a moment to celebrate something for yourself.  And remember, if at first you do succeed, but know you can do better, try again.
I had a business coach that had entrepreneurs do an IP audit, an intellectual property excavation of all your business ideas, plans, copy, that you can use to repurpose in a new plan.  It’s a great way to move past believing you have to reinvent the wheel every time you pivot.  I was looking through my old journals, wearing my Yogi Dada Funky Guru People ear bangers, and I was reminded of how far I’ve come and how far I have yet to go.  I’m not preaching down from a mountain top, I’m down in the valley with you.
Enjoy hearing my “femifesto,” and maybe you’ll be inspired to write your own.

    Choose Your Better

    Choose Your Better

There’s so much going on inside The Midlife Remix and you really want to be in on this!
Women in particular live under a lot of obligations. Today I’ll talk about “should” versus “must,” and what we can do to relieve the pressure of obligation. First, write down the top 3 things you must do this week.  Read them aloud, then change “should” or “must” to “could.”  Because really, everything is a choice.
I have a couple announcements too!  I’m starting The Midlife Remix Book Club on October 7th, starting, appropriately, with “The Crossroads of Should and Must” by Elle Luna.  I revisit this one frequently and I’m sure you’ll love it.
I’ll also be starting a “Fall In Love With Yourself” challenge soon - watch the Facebook page for that! You can also participate in the challenge without joining the facebook group through email. Join the newsletter, https://www.themidliferemix.life/

    Are You Shoulding On Yourself?

    Are You Shoulding On Yourself?

One thing most of the women I coach have in common is living under the tyranny of “shoulds” and “oughts.” A should can be innocuous, but it can also be horribly destructive.  Point is, living by the “shoulds” is choosing to live on someone else’s terms.
The thing about menopause is that through the major physiological and psychological change, things that have been suppressed must be addressed.  Deal with them, or they will deal with you, typically with a mental or physical health issue.
Choosing your “must” is the greatest thing you can do for yourself. If you want to know your “must,” get to know your “shoulds.”
When a “should” comes up for you that’s tied to some sort of resentment or frustration, ask yourself:
Where did it come from?Is this really true for you?Do you want to keep holding on to it? Be honest!
I have a couple announcements too!  I’m starting The Midlife Remix Book Club on October 7th, starting, appropriately, with “The Crossroads of Should and Must” by Elle Luna.  I revisit this one frequently and I’m sure you’ll love it.

She gives us all hope

It's easy to forget that life can be vivacious, productive, and fun after 50. C. Rene is a shining example for all of us that we're just hitting our stride. I love her candor and down-to-earth messages. She proves that we are what we think.
