Every choice is a decision to do one thing and not the other thing(s).
When I chose to retire from my corporate career, I chose undefined freedom over structured employment. When a client chose to run in the New York City marathon, she sacrificed a lot of time that could have been spent doing other things to prepare. And she finished the marathon!
What I love about her story is that she didn’t seriously prepare to run until several months before the marathon. She works full-time and wasn’t sure that she could get herself back in shape in time. She’d been hiding behind complacency and faulty self-perception (I don’t LOOK like a marathoner so I can’t BE a marathoner… even though she’d run marathons in the past.).
She let that shxt go!
It was her slowest and most difficult marathon. She pushed through severe cramps, shooting arch pain and I’m sure a desire to quit with every pounding step. But she didn’t.
I don’t ascribe to the Never Quit mantra. I believe in quitting things and people that have become toxic or no longer serve you. Quitting on myself? Never! And that’s what my client’s marathon represents: A woman who made a decision to not quit on herself! She chose her Better Yes. Not the easiest. Not even the most (seemingly) logical.
Her Better Yes.
This is the courage, grit, and resolve I help clients tap into and create a midlife they’ve only dreamed about.
Choose Your Better Yes.
